B

OLIVER
CD, CDX, UD, TT, TC, TDI  (1982-1996)

Oliver was my first competition dog, and what an amazing dog he was!  He earned his Companion Dog title in 3 straight shows with scores averaging 197, which earned him a Dog World Award for exceptional performance in AKC obedience trials, and ranking among the TOP 50 Novice-A German Shepherd Dogs in 1984.  We then went on to earn Companion Dog Excellent and Utility Dog titles.

Besides excelling at competitive obedience, Oliver was also my introduction to protection training.  He was an outstanding personal protection dog.

Fala Ausden Kesselblick
FALA CGC, BH, CD, UCD, CDX, UCDX, TT, TC, TDI  (1988-2002)

Fala was an outstanding obedience competitor, but what she really excelled at was protection work.  She was a very hard, serious dog and introduced me to the sports of Schutzhund and French Ring.  Personal protection competitions were just beginning to be held at the end of her career, and I can't help but wonder how she would have shined had she been born just a little bit later to participate fully in the then growing personal protection dog sports.

RUDY CGC, BH, CD, CDX, UD, TT, TC, TDI (1996-2001)

Rudy was an enormous giant of a dog, with heart and drive to match his size.  Unfortunately, his health started to downturn after he earned his Utility Dog title at age three, and he was gone by the age of five after two surgeries and lengthy radiation therapy.   He too was an enthusiastic protection dog, winning the Windy City K9 Personal Protection Dog Trial in 1997.

NICKY CGC, BH, PPD, FO, AOB, PA, OB1, P1, OBPD1, PD1, BTr, TT, TC, TDI (2001-2011)

Nicky was an extraordinary competition dog and did a fabulous job in all sports, yet was a very serious protection dog.  He achieved an amazing 97% placement record in competition (placing in 32 of 33 shows, winning 55% of those and taking 2nd place in 30%) while competing in 5 separate performance sports and 7 distinctly different protection venues.

The personal protection tournaments he won include the
Dog Sports Open (multiple times), The K9 Summerslam, Mr. K9’s Ladies Only Invitational, Sun Dog Street Dog Trial (multiple times), Sun Dog Pro-Am Trial and the 4-Thought “Street Wise” Civil Protection Dog Trial.  Nicky was also ranked number 1 in the world throughout the entire 2005 K9 Pro Sports season.

Although officially retired as of 2008 with the completion of his French Ring title, he still came out to play occasionally in various protection venues and won the Dog Sports Open again in 2010 just months before he died.

UAGI URO1 CH Cher Car's On A Clear Day, CGC
GREER - CH, URO1, UAGI, CGC  (2009-2013)

"Greer" was a very large, sweet friendly boy whose always wagging tail has been categorized as a deadly weapon!  At just one year of age, he completed his breed championship, earned an Agility I title and a Rally Obedience 1 title.  My life threatening illness in early 2012 forced me to cut back on many responsibilities, and I sold Greer to a wonderful breeding kennel in Wisconsin to perform stud dog duties...  a task I know he readily enjoyed!

 KEVLAR - CH  (June 2010-2023)

I soon came to realize I missed having a goofy male German Shepherd in the house, and brought "Kevlar" in to live with me in late 2012.  Sired by my beloved male "Nicky" out of "Schick" (who carries Cher Car lines back to the original foundation dog "Renegade"), Kevlar is a sweet and gentle boy.

He completed his breed championship in 2011 at one year of age, and he enjoyed living in the lap of luxury overseeing my canine household which then included a female Dutch Shepherd and 2 Parson Russell Terriers.

Kevlar was also a marvelous demonstration dog and canine ambassador who endears himself to our friends and customers with his mild mannered ways and gentle as a lamb nature; allowing visitors and kids alike to give him big hugs and kisses.  Yet in a moments notice, he is a devoted protection dog, enthusiastically displaying his skill and prowess in defending his loved ones from danger.

Kevlar was an outstanding stud dog for our Cher Car Kennels breeding program siring over 150 puppies from 2012 through 2019.  He is one of the UKC'S TOP PRODUCERS of his breed using data for progeny’s titles earned with offspring titled in Nosework, Agility, Rally, Dock Jumping and Conformation (having produced numerous breed Champions and Grand Champions).  He has also sired multiple Police K-9s and SAR dogs.

Besides actively participating in UKC Nosework competitions, LaRue is a Certified Narcotics Detection Dog (Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroin & Methamphetamine)
OMG! My Dutch Shepherd “LaRue” took 1st place in Elite Exteriors today at the K9 Fanciers NW Trial in Centreville, Michigan to earn our Elite Exterior title and finish our ELITE NOSEWORK TITLE!

Multi-HIT RBIS EN URO3 UNJ CH Cher Car’s LaRue du Dragon Noir
This is the hardest dogsport title I have ever earned as the EN represents 30 lesser titles rolled into one! It takes a minimum of 45 shows to earn these 30 titles (and it probably took us 60 shows to earn). Of the 168 titles I have put on my dogs since I started competing in 1982, this is definitely the one I am most proud of. Thank you LaRue!!!!

LaRue likes bitework too! Here she is competing in the 2021 Dog Sports Open protection dog tournament.
LaRue did especially well considering she has only had 3 bitework sessions in the last 18 months due to Covid restrictions. What a good girl she is!

LaRue also enjoys dock jumping!
She competes in UKC and UAD dock jumping...
... and has been awarded titles in both venues.
Multi-High-In-Trial, Reserve-Best-In-Show EN URO3 UNJ CH Cher Car’s LaRue du Dragon Noir UADSEJ is always a happy smiling girl

New Dual Racing Champion Cher Car Ultimate Kia with Judge Richard Hunter, co-owners Carole Field and Debra Russell, along with breeder Cheryl Carlson.
A little dog with a very BIG heart.

This is Parson Jack Russell Terrier FO, AOB, PA, OBPD1, UFR, USR, UFCH, USCH Cher Car Ultimate Kia, CGC, TDI co-owned by Debra Russell and myself.  Kia completed her Dual Racing Championship in June 2008.  She is the first Parson Jack Russell Terrier to earn this distinction and the ninth dog of any breed in the country.  Kia was undefeated during the four years (2005-2008) she earned her Flat and Steeplechase Racing and Championship Titles!  She continued to race in the Champion class and was ranked in the UKC Terrier Race ALL STARS in 2009, 2010 and 2011 before retiring in 2012.

Kia also received special recognition in 2006 for being the first Parson Jack Russell Terrier to earn a Protection Title in the UKC Dog Sports program.

Not bad for a 20 pound dog!

Kia was featured on the cover of the March 2011 UKC Bloodlines Magazine

This is for Carole Field and her Parson Russell Terrier named "Spalding". Spalding is an extremely popular dock jumper who has an eye-catching jumping style. He is so much fun to watch jump! Spalding recently earned his UKC Grand Championship as a dock jumper and I made this little video of him in honor of this wonderful achievement. Heartfelt congratulations to Carole and Spalding!!
